ABOUT US
An absolute playground for animals, the dogs here live in harmony with horses, chickens, sheep, mankind and the raw Canadian nature. The perfect environment, combined with the extremes of all four seasons, ensures Andega Shepherd's dogs are ready for life anywhere in the world.
After purchasing a farm 21 years ago, the work maintaining a herd of cattle, horses, sheep & dogs overwhelmed us so we decided to down-size and focus on horses and dogs. Growing up with German Shepherds all of our lives, and having a White Shepherd as children, it was always our dream to some day have another.
After importing our first White Swiss Shepherd in 2006, we made the decision to put our focus on these dogs. What followed was years of research and questions to White Swiss Shepherd breeders. Then came the point of checking bloodlines and running diagnostic tests to ensure we would be breeding healthy quality dogs. There were endless conversations with our veterinarian in regards to consistently doing x-rays, genetics tests, and other diagnostic testing to produce excellent quality and progeny. Thereafter, we imported more dogs with champion bloodlines and clean health certificates and hence began our kennel named “Andega Kennels”
Since 2008, and from champion pedigrees, Andega Shepherd's finely tuned and superior offspring have been exported across the globe and found themselves in the happy homes of many people. It's the quality, healthy and good-natured dogs that have given Andega Shepherds their name and why the offspring are so sought after.
All our dogs are pure-bred and are bred from quality males & females - All puppies will be registered with FCI Puerto Rico as White Swiss Shepherds and not German Shepherds begining 2021. This is because the White Swiss Shepherd is not a recognized breed in Canada or the USA. All breeding pairs are certified clear of hips/elbow dysplasia by the O.F.A
The Canadian Kennel Club does not recognize this breed and is a national, member-based, non-profit organization, incorporated under the Animal Pedigree Act of Canada. It provides registry services for all officially recognized breeds of purebred dogs, provides governance for all CKC approved shows, trials and events. Finally, the CKC is a communication organization informing all people interested in dogs. You may visit the C.K.C and A.K.C websites, the URLs are located in our links section.
